Practitioner Membership with Mediation Institute

Practitioner Membership includes:

  • Independent Complaint Handling (if needed),
  • Free for Members Professional Development
  • Listing on the Directory of Practitioner Members
It is a 12 month membership for $190.
Eligibility Requirements

You must meet the eligibility requirements to be accepted as a professional member.

  • Accredited Mediators - If you are nationally accredited Mediator NMAS / AMDRAS with another accreditation provider and do not want to transfer your Recognised Accreditation Body (RAP). You can join Mi as a Practitioner Member.
  • Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners - For those making their first application to the Attorney Generals Department and currently registered FDRPs
  • Family Group Conference Facilitators - You need evidence of having completed a recognised certificate course in Family Group Conferencing.

Eligibility

  • It is for FDR Practitioners, FGC Facilitators and Accredited Mediators who DO NOT have your NMAS or AMDRAS accreditation through Mediation Institute. It is included for free if you are a NMAS / AMDRAS with Mi. No need to apply for both. 
  • The current fee is $190 inclusive of GST

Has your NMAS Accreditation or FDR Registration been cancelled, or have conditions been imposed?

If you answered yes to the previous question. Please upload information about the cancellation or suspension of your NMAS Accreditation or FDR Registration

  • Disqualification from any type of professional practice
  • Criminal Convictions
  • An impairment that could influence your capacity to discharge your obligations in a competent, honest and professional manner
  • If you believe that you are unable to comply with the code of ethics

By submitting this application for Practitioner Membership, you authorise Mediation Institute to seek information from any party noted on your application and/or supporting documents or an authorised representative of the Mediator Standards Board and/or the Attorney General's Practitioner Registration Department, if relevant.

By authorising Mediation Institute to act as your independent complaint handling service you authorise Mi to notify the Attorney Generals Practitioner Registration Department if a substantiated complaint is made against you that requires disciplinary action and/or to notify them of other changes that may affect your registration as a FDR Practitioner. 

Our team will review your application and contact you if they require any additional information. Once your application is complete an invoice will be issued and upon payment your membership will be finalised. The current fee for practitioner membership is $190
